The Korean wave or commonly known as "Hallyu" is a phenomenon in which the pop culture of South Korea is spread globally throughout the world. This Korean wave has been going on since the 1990s. This triggers many people to study Korean culture in depth. There are so many reasons to learn about Korean, there are those who just want to understand the language, until there are also those who intend to stay or have a South Korean partner. from the 1990s until now korean pop has never lost its appeal. 

Hallyu phenomenon was adopted by the media in China after the album of the Korean boy group H.O.T was released in China. After that the Korean drama TV series started airing on TV channels in China, and slowly spread to the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand. at that time the whole world began to focus its attention on the Korean state, everything about the Korean state, something produced in the Korean country became sold in the market. Of course this helps the Korean country more easily in promoting its culture to other countries. This Korean wave covers everything about South Korea, such as drama, music, culture, food, and fashion.

In 2021, many new breakthroughs have been made by the Korean state so that the Korean wave, such as K-pop and K-drama, continues to be liked by fans around the world. at this time everything about South Korea has become a trend in all circles, especially among adolescent.Adolescents who are naturally more easily influenced by various things, of course it will be easier to follow the flow of this Korean wave. because the entertainment provided by public figures in South Korea is very diverse and fresh, coupled with the visual appeal of public figures of Korean which is very stunning and often looks unrealistic, beside that, Korean public figures also not only have a charming physique, but also a lot of talents they have trained since childhood. Of course, these factors can increase the interest of fans, especially among adolescents.

The existence of this Korean wave phenomenon has influenced the lifestyle of adolescents, especially in Indonesia. Many Indonesian adolescents today imitate Korean public figures, from fashion styles, food, drinks, accessories, even the way they talk and behave. This Korean wave certainly has a positive impact as well as a negative impact. Among the positive impacts of this Korean wave is the desire of adolescents to learn Korean culture and Korean language so that they can learn new things through something that they like, they also can get inspiration from the drama series or music from Korea. while the negative impact of this Korean wave is because most adolescents still have low self-control and poor time management, causing adolescents to often spend a lot of time watching Korean music videos, K-dramas, etc.

Adoring everything about Korea is not completely wrong or right, but many people need to remember, if anything in excess is not good, and therefore, you should like something in moderation, without harming ourself or anyone else.
